Add Custom Domain to your Github Page Free

As you may grasp by currently, this site is hosted on GitHub Pages. There is no limit to what number “sites” you'll be able to host on GitHub Pages if you utilize the project pages method, but the by default, the URL of your website would be either http://USER_NAME.GitHub.io or (if you’re using project pages) http://USER_NAME.GitHub.io/SITE_NAME. Which is wholly cool if you solicit from me, but typically, we’d like to have our own custom name that we got with our own hard-earned money.

After some googling to compare name registrars, I settled on Namesilo, largely as a result of they’re one of the most cost effective around, and honestly I haven’t had any trouble with them. Switching nameservers was easy, whois privacy is free, that’s about all I want truly. I’ve bought 3 domain names through them so so much and don’t arrange on shift to anyone else anytime presently.

Normally the documentation on GitHub is a cinch to follow on, but somehow the setting up of custom domains tutorial simply flew over my head. The first time i attempted it, I ended up on a roundabout link journey between fixing a custom domain with GitHub Pages, Tips for configuring a CNAME record with your DNS provider and concerning custom domains for GitHub Pages sites. I seriously think this a downside with Pine Tree State, not GitHub.

I also needed to use Cloudflare with my website, but in retrospect, this actually simplified things. If you have never detected of Cloudflare and would love to search out out a lot of, you can examine this diary post by the Cloudflare team explaining simply that. Full disclosure, I never truly got the custom domain to work right simply through Namesilo.
