Twitter Removes the 140 character limit

Twitter, one among the most visited social networking site has added a most welcoming feature in it. Twitter is also described as "the SMS of the Internet. The users who are registered can read and write posts and the unregistered ones can only view the posts. The posts are known as "Tweets". These tweets are short i.e. they are of length 140 characters only.

One Mad Geek

New feature!

From July, it is announced officially that the 140 character limit is to be removed. But this limit is removed only for direct messages and not for the posts. And the new limit for the direct messages is expected to extend about 10,000 characters. People who use twitter to chat with their followers will find this very helpful.

As already known, Twitter had recently introduced another change where people who were not following each other can send Direct messages if they opted for it. With this, Twitter, a microblogging platform allows people to send long private messages to their friends.

The Twitter Product Manager (Direct Messages), Sachin Agarwal said this in a blogspot for developers as,
"We've done a lot to improve Direct Messages over the past year and have much more exciting work on the horizon. One change coming in July that we want to make you aware of now (and first!) is the removal of the 140 character limit in Direct Messages".

Direct messages in other social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn do not have any length limits as in twitter.

Thanks for reading. Keep sharing with your friends.
